Memphis Friends Meeting is a member of Southern Appalachian Yearly Meeting and Association (SAYMA) which in turn is affiliated with Friends General Conference (FGC) headquartered in Philadelphia. Quakers associated with FGC practice unprogrammed or silent worship. We sit in expectant silence for the hour of worship. Sometimes messages are spoken; sometimes not.
The best way to find out if silent worship speaks to your condition is to experience it. Everyone is welcome. There is no parking on Walnut Grove, but you can park on Prescott Street or in the Pittman Parking lot (Sunday only) between the meetinghouse and the post office on Prescott. Come in through the kitchen door and find a seat in the meeting room. For more information about what to expect in worship, Click on the button for Quaker Faith and choose “Unprogrammed Worship.”
